Apple iPhone 15 Series Will Be Manufactured By Tata Group In India

Homegrown conglomerate Tata Group could become the fourth assembler for Apple iPhone 15 series in India.

Homegrown conglomerate Tata Group could become the fourth assembler for Apple iPhone 15 series in India. The other assemblers of the iPhone 15 lineup will be biggest Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn along with Luxshare and Pegatron while the fourth manufacturer will be Tata Group, the first local Indian manufacturer, according to market research firm TrendForce.

TrendForce says that Tata Group will assemble a small chunk of the iPhone 15 series models in India. The conglomerate has recently acquired Wistron, so it now has got the company’s India iPhone production line. Tata Group, therefore, will reportedly become the new contract partner for iPhone manufacturing in India, and the fourth manufacturer for Apple after Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare, the TrendForce added.

The Indian conglomerate will assemble 5 per cent of the iPhone 15 series phones, while the major share will still remain with Foxconn, Pegatron and Luxshare. As always, Foxconn will assemble the largest share of iPhone models, which is 70 per cent of assembly orders for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Taiwan's Foxconn will have 60 per cent of orders for the iPhone 15 Plus.

Tata Group has received orders for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models only, and not for the iPhone 15 Pro models. Luxshare will get 25 per cent of orders for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max models while Pegatron will get 35 per cent of iPhone 15 Plus orders and 30 per cent of iPhone 15 Pro orders.

Meanwhile, a recent report suggested that iPhone manufacturer and Taiwanese electronics company Wistron will shut down and withdraw business from India after 15 years, after its takeover by Tata Electronics.

Also, Apple in its March quarter results reported a revenue of $94.8 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, which is down 3 per cent YoY, but the company posted a profit of $24 billion, beating analysts' expectations amid a slowing economy. Bumper iPhone sales contributed $51.3 billion to Apple's profits in this quarter.
