Samsung Joins The AI Bandwagon, This Time With Its Neo QLED 8K Smart TVs

The latest Samsung TV lineup operates on the company's proprietary Tizen OS and features defence-grade in-house Knox to safeguard against emerging cyber threats and phishing attempts.

With artificial intelligence (AI) being the hottest buzzword in the tech industry, South Korean tech giant Samsung has become the first TV manufacturer to join the AI bandwagon for its TV sets. The tech major has taken the first step to make smart TVs friendlier and smarter with AI and unveiled its ultra-premium Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K and OLED TVs at its flagship event "Unbox & Discover".

To recall, earlier this year, Samsung had debuted its flagship Galaxy S24 series with built-in Galaxy AI features. (Read our full review of the Galaxy S24 Ultra here)

This line-up of Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K and OLED TVs come with solutions driven by AI to enhance user experience in terms of visuals and sounds and powered by its proprietary NQ8 AI Gen3 processor. Notably, this is the same range which was was announced earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas. The latest TV lineup boasts various AI-integrated functionalities and comes in a range of screen sizes spanning from 55 inches to 98 inches.

Over 90% Of Samsung's Business Comes From Locally Manufactured TVs

More than 90 per cent of the company's business comes from TV sets manufactured in India, according to Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice-President, Visual Display Business, Samsung India.

"Indian-manufactured television sets bring us over 90 per cent business. Some of the super large screen sizes, like 98-inches, etc. which is not viable to produce in India, and comprises high-end technologies, we still import from outside. It is about economical we can make it here," Singh told ABP Live.

"Our TVs come equipped with built-in Knox security, ensuring that all data encryption is performed directly on the device itself. This means the encryption key remains on the device and isn't transmitted to a server, providing a secure system. This is especially crucial as our televisions can connect to IoT hubs and other smart devices," Singh further noted.

Additionally, the Samsung Neo QLED 4K series touts to be the world's first Pantone Validated TV display for precise colour accuracy. OLED TVs in the lineup support refresh rates of up to 144Hz. Each TV also includes Samsung TV Plus, a complimentary streaming service offering over 100 channels.

Samsung Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED TVs Specifications And Features In India

Samsung's 2024 Neo QLED 8K smart TVs come in two variants: QN900D and QN800D, available in three sizes: 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch. The Neo QLED 4K series offers QN85D and QN90D models, with screen sizes ranging from 55 inches to 98 inches. Coming to Samsung OLED TVs, the S95D and S90D variants are offered in sizes from 55 inches to 83 inches. The latest Neo QLED 8K lineup is powered by the NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor with NPU, promising up to an eight-fold increase in neural networks, while Neo QLED 4K and OLED TVs use the NQ4 AI Gen 2 processors.

Samsung Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED TVs Prices, Offers In India

Samsung's Neo QLED 8K starts at Rs 3,19,990, while the Neo QLED 4K begins at Rs 1,39,990. The OLED range from Samsung starts at Rs 1,64,990. As part of the launch promotion, customers buying this new TV series will receive a soundbar valued at Rs 79,990.

Prospective buyers can also opt for a Music Frame priced at Rs 29,990 or a Freestyle projector priced at Rs 59,990, depending on the TV model they choose. Furthermore, the handset major is offering up to 20 per cent cashback on these TV models, with promotions valid until April 30.
