OnePlus 13R Tipped To Sport 50-Megapixel Telephoto Camera: What We Know So Far

OnePlus 13R might turn out to be more camera-focussed than its Chinese counterpart, the OnePlus Ace 5.

OnePlus 13R Leaks: OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next-generation smartphones on January 7, with the OnePlus 13R among the most anticipated devices. Initially, rumours pointed to the 13R being a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 5, which was recently introduced in the Chinese market. However, new leaks suggest key differences that could make the 13R a standout model in the global lineup.

One of the most notable upgrades rumoured for the OnePlus 13R is the inclusion of a dedicated telephoto camera.

As per noted tipster Yogesh Brar, the device will feature a triple-camera system, comprising a 50 MP main lens with Sony’s Lytia LYT-700 sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 50 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom powered by Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5 sensor.

This setup would make the 13R a more camera-focused device compared to its Chinese counterpart. For selfies, the 13R is expected to sport a 16 MP front-facing camera.

OnePlsu Ace 5 Camera Specs

In comparison, the OnePlus Ace 5 replaces the telephoto lens with a less functional 2 MP macro sensor, which is largely decorative. If these rumours prove accurate, the OnePlus 13R will be better equipped for versatile photography, appealing to users who prioritise camera performance.

Interestingly, OnePlus has already confirmed that the 13R will have a smaller battery than the Ace 5, sparking curiosity about the brand’s strategy for its global market. While the battery downgrade remains unexplained, it appears that the focus has shifted toward enhancing imaging capabilities, potentially catering to international consumers who value advanced camera technology.

With just days to go before the official unveiling, the OnePlus 13R is generating significant buzz. As fans await confirmation of these features, all eyes are on how this device will stack up against both its predecessors and competitors in the mid-range segment.
