Nothing Phone (2a) To Be Made In India, Confirms CEO Carl Pei

This device is expected to hit the market with a 6.7-inch OLED display, dual-camera setup, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, 8GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage.

The upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to make a significant impact in the Indian market. Nothing's CEO Carl Pei has officially confirmed that the company will be manufacturing the phone locally in India. This strategic decision not only will ensure cost effectiveness but also align with the 'Make In India' drive. The announcement from the CEO came in response to a query on X (formerly known as Twitter) in which the user asked Pei if the company is making it in India.

Pei while responding to this query wrote, "Yup."

What Advantages Will 'Make In India' Have On Nothing

The first and foremost advantage of manufacturing the Phone (2a) domestically in India will be that it has the potential to reduce the device's price by circumventing import duties and streamlining logistical processes. This will enable Nothing to address a wider range of price points within the Indian market which is known for its value-conscious consumer base.

The second key advantage is that local production enhances brand perception and fosters a sense of national pride which resonates very well with Indian consumers.

Nothing Phone (2a)'s Expected Features

This device is expected to hit the market with a 6.7-inch OLED display, dual-camera setup, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, 8GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage. It will be operating on Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 and will showcase the brand's hallmark transparent back design, albeit with potential variations in detailing.

The phone will feature a horizontally aligned dual-camera module on the rear, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, accompanied by a 32-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, the device promises an immersive viewing experience.

The phone is rumoured to boast a battery capacity ranging between 4,500mAh to 4,800mAh. If we talk about software, the Phone (2a) is anticipated to run on Nothing OS 2.5, built on the foundation of Android 14.

Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to receive software updates for up to three years after its launch, ensuring longevity and security for users.

Nothing Phone (2a) Expected Price

Nothing Phone (2a) is likely to debut in two variants, with the base model featuring 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. According to recent leaks, we might see a starting price of 349 euros in Europe or Rs. 31,000 for the device.

However, as per several reports, the device may come with a price tag of around Rs. 30,000 to cater to the preferences and purchasing power of Indian consumers.
