The specifications of the JioPhone 5G have been leaked ahead of the expected launch of 5G services in India. The Jio Phone 5G might be unveiled in the coming weeks in India alongside the rollout of commercial 5G services by Reliance Jio.

The exact launch timeline of the Jio Phone 5G smartphone is not yet known, but the price range of the device was recently leaked. A new report has revealed the specifications of the upcoming affordable Jio Phone 5G. According to the latest report, the Jio Phone 5G is codenamed “Ganga” and it has the model number “LS1654QB5”.

In terms of specs, the Jio Phone 5G is likely to come with a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen with a screen refresh rate of 90Hz. The Jio Phone 5G is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC. It should be noted that the Snapdragon 480 chipset is an entry-level 5G SoC. The smartphone may pack in 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

In terms of battery capacity and charging capacity, the Jio Phone 5G is likely to come with a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support of 18W.

In terms of imaging, the smartphone could pack in a dual camera setup on the back led by a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies, there could be an 8MP sensor at the front. The device could run Android 12 out of the box and some rumours suggest that it could run a full version of Android OS instead of Android Go Edition.

However, according to a previous report by Android Central, in terms of specs, the JioPhone 5G would come with Android 11 (Go Edition), since it would be an entry-level device.

Meanwhile, earlier in August, Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) announced the launch of Jio 5G services in India. By Diwali 2022, Jio 5G will be rolled out in metro cities across the country.

"Using 5G, we can accelerate the rollout of top quality, highly affordable fixed broadband services," Mukesh Ambani said, adding that "Jio 5G will be the world's most advanced 5G," he had said, while adding, "Subsequently, we plan to increase the Jio 5G footprint month after month. By December 2023, which is less than 18 months from today, we will deliver Jio 5G to every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country."

Ambani, in his speech, had said that Jio 5G will connect over 100 million homes with “unparalleled digital experiences and Smart Home solutions."
