iPhone 15 Pro Models May Feature Titanium Frame And Be Lighter Than Predecessors

The iPhone 15 Pro models are likely to come with a titanium frame instead of the usual stainless steel that was featured on the predecessors and earlier iPhone models.

With the launch of the Apple iPhone 15 lineup likely to be held soon, a new report by 9to5Mac says that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may be lighter than last year's iPhone 14 lineup. The iPhone 15 Pro models are likely to come with a titanium frame instead of the usual stainless steel that was featured on the predecessors and earlier iPhone models which means we can expect the weight iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to carry up to 8 per cent less weight than the previous iPhone models.

iPhone 12, 13, and 14 all have similar sizes and shapes to iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, and 14 Pro. The difference in aluminium versus stainless steel frames, however, contributes to about an ounce of weight difference, the report noted.

The iPhone 15 Pro may be a lighter phone than last year's iPhone 14 Plus. The iPhone 14 Pro, notably, is a tad bit heavier than the iPhone 14 Plus. Among this year's lineup, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to be the heaviest, but its weight could also drop by more than half an ounce.

Meanwhile, the Cupertino-based tech giant is said to have cut the production of iPhone 15 ahead of the September launch. According to several leaks and rumours, Apple is facing some issues with the mass production of certain components, which may have led to the company cutting the production of the models.

Pu added that Apple's use of Sony’s camera sensors and new titanium frame for the iPhone 15 Pro models as well as thinner bezels on the display would be the reason for the production delay.

Apple is likely to manufacture 77 million iPhone 15 models by the end of 2023 against previous estimates of around 83 million units, in a note sent to investors, analyst Jeff Pu recently said. The analyst underlined two reasons and added that supply chain issues would have an impact on the mass production of the iPhone 15. The second reason is, that Apple anticipates lower demand for the iPhone 15 line as they would push the price bracket higher than last year's iPhone 14 series.
