Honor Making A Comeback Under Madhav Sheth's Leadership, To Launch Smartphones In India Soon

Former CEO and the face of rival brand Realme in India, Madhav Sheth has also confirmed his presence onboard and he is likely to play a pivotal role in cementing Honor's position in India.

Handset maker Honor is set to make a comeback and launch smartphones in India. The company made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, from its handle @honortechindia. The company withdrew its operations from India back in 2020 after it got separated from Chinese tech behemoth Huawei. Huawei had sold the brand in November 2020 to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co. Ltd. Honor Tech India has confirmed it is re-entering the India market and that it would launch its first smartphone in the country soon. Honor's first smartphone in India may be the Honor 90.

"Embracing Innovation, Empowering Lives! Crafting tech #ForTheIndians. Stay tuned for more updates #HonorTech #TechForIndians #Innovation," Honor Tech tweeted.

Honor got independence from Huawei in 2020 and since then PSAV Global has been the official distributor of Honor products in India. It has been releasing tablets, laptops and wearables and it is likely that PSAV would continue to be the official Honor distributor.

Former CEO and the face of rival brand Realme in India, Madhav Sheth has also confirmed his presence onboard and he is likely to play a pivotal role in cementing Honor's position in India. He was also instrumental in building Realme's presence in the country. Earlier in June, CEO of Realme India, VP, Realme and President, Realme International Business Group, Sheth officially resigned from the company after a stint of five years.

Sheth tweeted from his handle: "Exciting News Alert! Honor Smartphones will be launched soon in India. Join us on this incredible journey as we empower the future with Honor Tech. #FeelTheFreedom #FeelTheHonor #TechForIndians."

Meanwhile, Chinese handset maker Realme is likely having a tough time in India as more than a dozen of its executives are leaving the firm. According to a recent report in ET Telecom, the sales heads who quit Realme have taken their "core team" along with them. The employees who have left the handset maker include top executives who have been "poached" by Realme's former CEO Sheth, added a report by news agency PTI.

Dipesh Punamiya, who was in charge of offline sales at Realme, has now become the assistant vice president (AVP) at Honor Tech. Sanjeev Kumar, who was looking after online sales at Realme, has also taken up a senior position in the company, says a report by IANS, citing distributor sources.
