Ahead of the annual Google I/O event next week, Google has officially unveiled its latest Pixel smartphone, the Pixel 8a, in India. The phone boasts a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, making it 40 per cent brighter than last year's Pixel 7a (read our full review of the Pixel 7a here).

The Google Pixel 8a is priced at Rs 52,999 (MRP) for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB version costs Rs 59,999 (MRP). The handset is currently available for pre-order in India on e-commerce site Flipkart, with sales starting at 6:30 AM IST on May 14, 2024.

Prospective buyers can avail a bank offer of Rs 4,000 and 12 months of no-cost EMI with select bank cards. Additionally, there is an exchange bonus of Rs 9,000 available on select smartphone models. As part of the pre-order offer, customers can purchase the Pixel Buds A-Series for Rs 999 when they buy the Pixel 8a anytime during the pre-order period, which runs from 9:30 PM IST on May 7, 2024, to 6:30 AM IST on May 14, 2024.

The phone maintains its IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, but gets a new 256GB storage option, and is equipped with a slightly larger 4492mAh battery compared to the 4385mAh battery in last year's 7a model. The Pixel 8a has support 18W fast charging and wireless charging.

The Google Pixel 8a maintains its 64MP rear camera with OIS, accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide secondary camera. Additionally, it features a 13MP front-facing camera capable of 4K video recording, ensuring high-quality video capture from both front and rear cameras. The phone includes Super Res Zoom up to 8x and handy features such as Magic Eraser, Night Sight, Photo Unblur, Best Take, and Circle to Search.

Running on the Google Tensor G3 SoC and equipped with the Titan M2 security chip, the phone operates on Android 14. The company has said that the Pixel 8a will receive seven years of software support, encompassing security updates and Android OS upgrades.
