Google has just introduced the Fitbit Ace LTE, a new smartwatch tailored for children. Unlike previous Ace models, which were simplified versions of Fitbit's fitness bands, the Ace LTE runs on WearOS. In addition to standard fitness tracking capabilities, the new Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch includes features such as calling, messaging, and location sharing with parents.

Currently, it is available for pre-order at $229.95 and will go on sale in the US starting June 5th.

The Fitbit Ace LTE prioritises privacy, displaying a child's location or activity data exclusively to parents. Location information is erased after 24 hours, while activity data is retained for a maximum of 35 days. The smartwatch does not feature ads or third-party apps, and only contacts added by parents can communicate with the device.

Parents can also control settings such as 'School Time' to minimise distractions. 'Tap to Pay' functionality can be configured, allowing kids to conveniently make purchases. Fitbit emphasises that parents do not need to purchase a new SIM card or pay for activation, as network connectivity is already integrated with the Fitbit Ace Pass.

Additionally, the Fitbit Ace LTE includes six collectible bands, each unlocking various items, styles, rooms, and Noodles when initially connected to the watch. These bands are available for separate purchase, and new ones will be periodically released.

The Fitbit Ace LTE introduces "eejies," personalised creatures that thrive on daily activities. As kids achieve their movement targets, their eejie becomes healthier and happier. By completing daily activities and progressing through games, kids earn arcade tickets to customise their eejie's appearance with new outfits or enhance its habitat.
