Apple Watch SE 2nd-Gen To Arrive Next Year, One Variant May Be A Rugged Model For Athletes

An updated version of the Apple Watch SE is in the works and Apple may unveil the Apple Watch Watch SE (second generation) sometime in 2021.

New Delhi: An updated version of the Apple Watch SE is in the works and Apple may unveil the Apple Watch Watch SE (second generation) sometime in 2022. One of the variants in the Apple Watch lineup is likely to arrive with a rugged design, designed especially for athletes, the media has reported.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant may launch the Watch SE 2 in 2022. However, he did not detail about the upcoming device's details. Some changes in the design language and an upgrade in internals and features is expected, though.

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said that for next year, there could be a Watch Series 8 along with an update to the ‌Apple Watch SE‌. The ‌Apple Watch SE‌ was launched in September last year and has since served as a somewhat budget or "affordable" option for customers.

Also, Apple has not officially confirmed anything about the Watch SE's launch or details. The upcoming smartwatch from the iPhone maker is likely to feature upgraded health management and fitness features over the current-gen Apple Watch SE, which is still "affordable". Currently, the lineup that Apple is offering includes Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Watch SE.

Meanwhile, Apple iPhone SE 3, the next iteration in the 'affordable' iPhone SE lineup may sport a design similar to the iPhone SE (2020) and it is slated to launch in the first quarter of 2022.

The first iteration in the ‘affordable’ iPhone SE line was unveiled back in 2016. The iPhone SE (2020) edition was launched last year, but there has been no iPhone SE this year.
