Apple & Sony Might Be Working Together To Make Vision Pro Awesome By Turning It Into A Gaming VR Headset

The collaboration stems from Sony’s efforts to make its PSVR2 controller compatible with the Vision Pro, and Apple is said to be actively consulting developers about this potential integration.

Apple and Sony are reportedly exploring a collaboration to integrate the PSVR2 controller with Apple’s Vision Pro headset, according to a Bloomberg report. This partnership could enable Vision Pro users to pair the advanced PSVR2 controllers with the device, potentially transforming Apple's spatial computer into a gaming powerhouse. Currently, PSVR2 controllers are not sold separately and are only available bundled with Sony's PSVR2 headset. However, Apple might begin offering the controllers in its stores as part of this initiative.

The collaboration stems from Sony’s efforts to make its PSVR2 controller compatible with the Vision Pro, and Apple is said to be actively consulting developers about this potential integration. If finalised, this move could elevate Vision Pro's capabilities, particularly for immersive gaming experiences.

What More Can Come Out Of PSVR2 Controller?

Beyond gaming, the PSVR2 controller could also be used for precision input in professional applications. Tasks involving software like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and other apps requiring fine control could benefit from this integration.

Currently, Vision Pro relies on gesture-based controls captured by its sensors and cameras, which eliminate the need for external devices. However, the addition of PSVR2 controller support could provide users with enhanced accuracy and functionality.

Although Vision Pro already supports generic Bluetooth controllers for navigation, the PSVR2 controller promises a more deeply integrated experience. With potential exclusive features, this could position Vision Pro as a competitive mixed-reality headset for both gaming and professional use.

Details about the standalone pricing of the PSVR2 controller remain unclear, but its inclusion is expected to significantly boost Vision Pro's appeal to gamers and professionals alike. This development marks another step in Apple's efforts to expand the utility of its first mixed-reality headset.
