Apple Planning To Debut Its MR Headset Called Reality Pro At WWDC 2023

Apple has pushed back the launch date of its mixed-reality (MR) headset to June, during this year's edition of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Apple has pushed back the launch date of its mixed-reality (MR) headset to June, during this year's edition of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the media has reported. According to a report by news agency Bloomberg, which cited sources, the headset would be possibly called Reality Pro.

The tech giant maker is now aiming to unveil the product at its annual WWDC, said Bloomberg sources, who asked not to be identified because the plans are confidential. The iPhone maker made the decision to delay the launch earlier this month after product testing showed that both hardware and software issues still needed to be ironed out.

The Apple MR headset was initially slated to arrive in April, but reportedly needed extra development time to address hardware and software bugs. While the Apple MR headset is set to cost a whopping $3,000, it may also include features and capabilities not found on rivals such as the Meta Quest Pro.

To recall, in October 2022, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg officially unveiled the Meta Quest Pro, which is the company's first high-end and advanced Virtual Reality (VR) headset at Meta’s annual Connect conference. The device became available for €‎1,799.99 or £$1,499.99 or $1,499.99, which is almost half the price of the likely price of the Apple MR headset Reality Pro.

Meta Quest Pro marked the social networking giant's entry into the high-end line of devices, and the VR headset is packed with innovative features such as high-res sensors for robust mixed reality experiences, LCD displays for sharp visuals, a completely new and sleeker design, plus eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions to help the user's avatar reflect them more naturally in VR.

But the metaverse won’t be built by one company alone -- Zuckerberg was joined by both Microsoft Chairperson and CEO Satya Nadella and Accenture Chairperson and CEO Julie Sweet, to share new partnerships that will accelerate the future of work.

They detailed how Meta Quest Pro was built with work in mind, and that the partnership with Microsoft is intended to bring its productivity tools to Meta Quest devices and Meta work experiences.
