Speculation erupted online after Tesla CEO Elon Musk praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during an awards ceremony in New York, held alongside the United Nations General Assembly. Social media users were quick to comment on their interaction, with many dubbing them a "perfect couple." 

Comments such as "totally shipping these two" and "Now that is the kind of international power couple I can get behind" flooded the internet. One user humorously remarked, “I wanna find someone that looks at me the same way Meloni looks at Musk.”

Musk Shuts Down Rumours

However, Musk quickly shut down the swirling rumours of a potential romantic relationship. In response to an online post asking if he and Meloni were dating, Musk simply replied, “Not dating.”

Musk Heaps Praises On Meloni

Musk’s admiration for Meloni came to the forefront during the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award, where he presented her with the honour and described her as "beautiful inside and out" while commending her for her authenticity and honesty, qualities he suggested are rare in modern-day politics.

Meloni took to Twitter to express her gratitude towards the Tesla CEO.

The interaction between Musk and Meloni hints at their shared political views, with Musk previously expressing support for former US President Donald Trump and Meloni known for her conservative stance in Italy. Despite her right-wing roots, Meloni has maintained strong international alliances, including her commitment to the G7’s support of Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. 

Musk’s interest in Meloni isn’t new. Last December, he attended an event hosted by her party, the Brothers of Italy, where he spoke on Italy’s demographic issues, calling for an increase in the country’s birth rate while also addressing concerns over immigration. 

Their growing rapport continues to draw attention from both sides of the Atlantic, as Musk’s praise signals a potential alignment between the two on political and global matters.
