Airtel Rolls Out Rs 1,849, Rs 469 Plans To Prioritise SMS, Voice Calls. Here Are The Older Plans They're Replacing

Earlier this year, Airtel introduced voice and SMS-centric plans in response to shifting customer priorities, as per guidelines from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Bharti Airtel has rolled out two new prepaid plans aimed at users prioritising voice calls and SMS services over data usage. The telecom giant’s latest offerings are designed to cater to customers seeking budget-friendly alternatives while enjoying essential connectivity. Here's a breakdown of the newly launched plans:

Airtel Rs 1849 Annual Plan

Targeting users who prefer long-term options, the Rs 1849 plan comes with a year-long validity, unlimited voice calling, and 3,600 SMS. Additionally, customers enjoy the same Airtel Rewards, including a 3-month Apollo 24/7 Circle membership and free Hello Tunes. This plan is approximately Rs 110 cheaper than its predecessor, providing a cost-effective option for annual recharge users.

Airtel Rs 469 Prepaid Plan

Priced at Rs 469, this plan provides unlimited voice calling and 900 SMS with a validity of 84 days. Subscribers also receive added perks such as a 3-month Apollo 24/7 Circle membership and free Hello Tunes. This plan costs around Rs 30 less than Airtel’s previously launched version but offers identical benefits.

As reported by TelecomTalk, these new plans replace the older Rs 499 and Rs 1,959 offerings, which are no longer available on Airtel’s platforms. Customers can now recharge with these plans via Airtel’s app and website.

Earlier this year, Airtel introduced voice and SMS-centric plans in response to shifting customer priorities, as per guidelines from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The focus has shifted from data-heavy packages to plans emphasising communication services.

  • Rs 499 Plan: With a validity of 84 days, this plan includes unlimited calls and 900 SMS. Unlike its predecessor, it excludes mobile data, making it ideal for users focused on calling and messaging.
  • Rs 1,959 Annual Plan: This long-term plan offers unlimited calls, 3,600 SMS for 365 days, and the usual Airtel Rewards but eliminates the previously included 24GB of data.

For those who need some data, the Rs 569 plan offers a balance between calling benefits and 6GB of mobile data.

Airtel’s move reflects its commitment to providing tailored solutions for a diverse customer base while maintaining affordability.
