AI Is Going To Be Of Significantly More Value To Us Than We Imagined: Anand Mahindra

Anand Mahindra cited a research that showed how AI can detect breast cancer five years before it even develops, and said, "AI is going to be of significantly more value to us than we imagined."

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing with each day that passes and the research in the same field is also deepening further and further to uncover the full potential of AI. Many new use cases of AI have surfaced in today's world which we couldn't even think of five years back. The advancement in the field of AI has not just helped in the IT industry but is also leaving a significant mark on the health sector. The Chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra, Anand Mahindra, while talking about the advancement in AI said that AI can be of more value to mankind than ‘imagined’.

Mahindra cited a research, in which it was shown how AI can detect breast cancer five years before it develops, and wrote "If this is accurate, then AI is going to be of significantly more value to us than we imagined and much earlier than we had imagined."

A user while responding to Mahindra's post wrote, "That's the best use of technology anyway. Assisting human kind to become better and reduce risks."

Another user wrote, "AI in the medical field will have a huge impact and will certainly make significant contributions. Google DeepMind's AI system, AlphaFold3, can accurately predict the 3D structure of proteins and has potential applications in drug discovery and understanding diseases."

A third user who appears to be an AI builder wrote, "This is very accurate; we are also exploring AI to detect cardiac arrhythmia from heartbeats and detect COVID from patient coughs. AI will change the way we treat patients."

AI Can Detect Breast Cancer 5 Yrs Before It Develops?

A recent study by researchers from Duke University in the US has led to the creation of an advanced AI model designed to forecast a five-year risk of breast cancer based on mammogram data.

Traditionally, diagnosing cancer involves biopsies, microscopic histological analysis, and imaging methods such as MRI, CT, and PET scans. The results of these tests can be open to subjective interpretation by humans. In contrast, AI can process medical images with remarkable precision.
