Chennai: Youtuber Maridhas, who was already under arrest for a controversial social media post on Tamil Nadu government and death of Chief of Defence staff Bipin Rawat, was arrested again on Saturday in a forgery case given against him by a news channel.

According to a report on The New Indian Express, Maridhas was arrested for a case filed against him by a news network last year for allegedly forging an email and claiming that the mail was sent by the top authorities of the news organisation.

The accused Maridhas was earlier arrested for a tweet that has now been deleted where he alleged that "TN is becoming like another Kashmir under DMK rule since it has provided the freedom to form any groups which can do any level of treason against the country".

In another tweet, the youtuber said that DMK members are reacting to the death of CDS with a laughter emoji and hence it's true that the DMK is turning into the best option for separatists.

After the tweets, based on a complaint from a resident of Theni, Maridhas was arrested from his house in Surya Nagar by cybercrime wing attached to Madurai city police.

However, opposing his arrest, the BJP members raised slogans against the police and the government.

Maridhas has been arrested and taken to K Pudur Police Station on Thursday, said officials.
