TN Urban Local Body Polls: DMK Ousts Three Secretaries For Defeating Allies

The three members did not resign from the post despite letter of TN CM Stalin to resign from the posts.

Chennai: The DMK ousted three urban secretaries of the party for contesting against alliance partners in seats allotted to the allies in the indirect polls.

In an order, DMK general secretary Durai Murugan announced the suspension of D Balamurugan, SP Murali and MV Selvaraj of the party in the areas Theni-Allinagaram, Periyakulam and Bodinayakanur respectively, said a report on The New Indian Express.

The DMK allotted Theni-Allinagaram to Congress candidate but DMK candidates did not support the Congress candidate Sargunam. Hence, Sargunam did not file the nominations on March 5. Therefore Balamurugan's wife B Renupriya was elected unopposed as the chairperson of the municipality.
