TN Urban Local Body Polls: DMK Ousts Three Secretaries For Defeating Allies
The three members did not resign from the post despite letter of TN CM Stalin to resign from the posts.
Chennai: The DMK ousted three urban secretaries of the party for contesting against alliance partners in seats allotted to the allies in the indirect polls.
In an order, DMK general secretary Durai Murugan announced the suspension of D Balamurugan, SP Murali and MV Selvaraj of the party in the areas Theni-Allinagaram, Periyakulam and Bodinayakanur respectively, said a report on The New Indian Express.
The DMK allotted Theni-Allinagaram to Congress candidate but DMK candidates did not support the Congress candidate Sargunam. Hence, Sargunam did not file the nominations on March 5. Therefore Balamurugan's wife B Renupriya was elected unopposed as the chairperson of the municipality.

In Periyakulam and Bodinayakanur, the vice-chairman posts were allotted to VCK and CPI respectively but DMK members Raja Mohamad and A Krishnaveni filed the nominations and won the posts.
The three members did not resign from the post despite letter of TN CM Stalin to resign from the posts. In a previous letter, the CM said, the rebels might think that they have achieved something. However, as the president of the party I feel ashamed.
He also expressed his regret to the alliance partners and ordered the rebels to resign from party posts immediately and meet him. He also told district secretaries to act swiftly and ensure the resignation of the rebels.

Talking to TNIE, DMK north district secretary Thanga Tamilselvan said, if the DMK urban secretaries submit an apology letter their re-induction will be considered.
