TN Raj Bhavan Says It Hasn't Issued Sanction To Prosecute Annamalai: 'Not Aware Of Criminal Case Against Him'

The clarification from Raj Bhavan followed reports indicating that Tamil Nadu government had issued a GO claiming that Governor RN Ravi had granted sanction for Annamalai's prosecution.

The Raj Bhavan on Monday issued a press release stating that no sanction order had been granted to prosecute Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai, and it was unaware of any criminal case against him. This clarification followed reports indicating that the Tamil Nadu government had issued a government order claiming that Governor RN Ravi had granted sanction for Annamalai's prosecution due to his alleged hate speech regarding former CM CN Annadurai, Muthuramalinga Thevar, and PT Rajan.

According to ANI, the press note from Raj Bhavan said, "Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu has been receiving anxious inquiries from the public for the last two days regarding a news circulating in media that the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu has accorded sanction to prosecute Thiru. K. Annamalai, BJP State President of Tamil Nadu in a criminal case."

"It is hereby informed that Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu is not aware of the criminal case against Thiru. K.Annamalai and has not issued any sanction order," it said.
