Tamil Nadu: Another NEET Aspirant Dies Due To Suicide. Vellore Girl Ends Life Over 'Fear Of Failing Exam'
Soundarya's death is the 16th suicide related to NEET stress in Tamil Nadu, according to records
Chennai: Just a day after the demise of NEET aspirant Kanimozhi in Ariyalur, the state woke up to the news of another NEET aspirant's death by suicide. Soundarya, a Class 12 student, killed herself in Vellore on Wednesday.
Soundarya, daughter of a daily wage labourer, allegedly killed herself due to the fear of failing the exam. She lived in Katpadi in Vellore district. The student from Thottapalayam had secured 510 marks in her board exams.
Soundarya wrote her NEET papers at Kingston Engineering College on Sunday. However, she returned depressed and told her parents that she didn't do well in the exams, her family members told ABP Nadu. They said she wept to her parents for two days. On Wednesday, she allegedly ended her life using a saree to hang herself.
On Tuesday, Kanimozhi, a student from Ariyalur, died by suicide due to the fear of failing the test.
Speaking after hearing the news of her death, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said: "It's sad to learn about the demise of a studetn due to the deadly NEET. The state has seen the death of students Anitha to Kanimozhi so I am holding the hands of the parents and students not just as Tamil Nadu CM but also as a brother and urge them to put a fullstop to the suicides. DMK has opposed NEET from the beginning and we have also started a legal fight in full swing."

The chief minister also said the state has passed a Bill against NEET in the Assembly with the support of all except BJP, and until the Bill receives the consent of the President, "I vow to the parents to continue the legal fight and there will be no slowdown".
