Chennai: The Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday said the people of Tamil Nadu do not need any certificate on patriotism from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During a virtual campaign ahead of the run-up to the civic polls in Thoothukudi, Stalin said, the people of Tamil Nadu are no less than anyone in the recognizing those battled for the freedom of the country, said a report in Times of India.
The CM said, they (BJP & PM Modi) think that the land is the nation but it's wrong. The people are the nation and they refuse to understand that they are working against the basic principle.

Further, the CM brought the issue of the Republic Day tableau during the campaign. Making a mention of the row, he asked, who refused to allow TN's tableau and said the PM who recites Bharathiyar poems refused to allow the tableau.
In another virtual campaign, the CM then said, "We wanted to showcase Velu Natchiyar and VOC during the R-Day parade in New Delhi. However, they denied it. But still, we brought the tableau in TN's R-Day celebrations and took it to the streets of the state."

On the Opposition party, he said, "Did AIADMK do any good to Thoothukudi? I will remind you that AIADMK's achievement was the shooting down of 13 people who were peacefully protesting against Sterlite. During their period, a father and son were brutally killed due to custodial torture in Sathankulam."
