Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Inspects Road Laying Works During Night Rounds

The CM inspected the works at Warrant Road in Mandaveli and Mahalingapuram in Chennai on Thursday.

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday conducted an inspection of the road laying works undertaken by the Greater Chennai Corporation in Mahalingapuram and Mylapore on Thursday night. The Corporation using the night curfew and Sunday lockdown has taken up the initiative to relay the roads damaged during the recent monsoon rainfall. 

The Chief Minister Stalin was accompanied by Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi, who explained about the current works undertaken by the civic body. 

Later, the Chief Minister took to Twitter and said, "I already ordered the officials to immediately take up repairing the roads affected by the unprecedented rainfall in Tamil Nadu."

"As a result, the relays works have been initiated for 312 kms in Chennai, 1675 kms in other Corporations and Municipalities and 650 kms in town panchayats," he said. 

Further, the CM said that he personally visited the ongoing road development works at Warrant Road in Mandaveli and Mahalingapuram in Chennai.

"I have also advised all officers to complete all these tasks expeditiously on a war-footing in the interest of the public who take these routes daily for their travel," he said. 

Meanwhile, the Chennai Corporation is also geared to use the night curfew and Sunday lockdown to swiftly carry out re-laying and repair works. Last Thursday, the Commissioner conducted an inspection of such road-laying works in Anna Nagar.
