Tamil Nadu: Class 12 Girl Who Underwent 10 Surgeries In 2021 Set To Appear For Board Exams On Thursday

The Class 12 student will attend the exam with the help of a scribe by lying on the bed.

Chennai: A Class 12 student in Tamil Nadu who successfully passed the test of life now aims to clear the board exams with flying colours despite undergoing over 10 surgeries in 2021. The student is one among the eight lakh students who are set to appear for Class 12 board exams on Thursday.

According to a report on Times of India, S Sindhu is a student of commerce at Vidyodaya Girls Higher Secondary School in T Nagar.

The life of Sindhu, who was a district-level volleyball player, took an upside turn in December 2020 when the student fell from the third floor of a building. The incident soon left the student bedridden and she lost all her teeth. Sindhu then underwent extensive reconstructive surgery.

Post surgery, Sindhu is now able to sit only with assistance. However, the surgery on the right leg was botched up with an open wound that has made it difficult for her to walk.

Yet, her family is optimistic that she would get back on her foot and play volleyball again.

Sindhu's father Shakti, a tea seller, recalling the grit of the student said that Sindhu told us she would come back fine even when doctors said she would not survive.

Meanwhile, the family is also hopeful that Sindhu will do great in Class 12 board exams. Sindhu started preparing for the board exams a long time back with the help of a relative and teachers who visit her home and help out the bedridden teenager with studies.

However, as the student is completely bedridden she has asked Tamil Nadu government to allow her to write the exam with help of a scribe by lying on a cot. The student has also received a positive reply, said the report.
