The vacancy of retired persons also comes at a time when the state already has 1,50,000 vacancies to be filled in various departments. However, the government has not listed the vacancies but called for aspirants to attend TNPSC exams.

Overall, the state has only nine lakh employees as against the strength of 14-15 lakh employees. Some of the remaining vacancies should also be filled before December to avoid a burden on the workers.
