'Unfair For PM To Make Comments Without Knowing...': TN CM Stalin Backs Son Udhayanidhi On 'Sanatan Dharma' Row

The Chief Minister also expressed his dismay over PM Modi demanding a proper response from Udhayanidhi.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote to PM Modi in support of DMK Minister and his son Udhayanidhi Stalin after the latter's statement on 'Sanatan Dharma' created a controversy across the nation. The CM in a statement conveyed his dismay over PM Modi and other Ministers commenting on the statement that was falsely spread regarding Udhayanidhi's quote. The CM once again clarified that the Minister did not use the word 'genocide' either in Tamil or English.

In a letter, Stalin said, "Pro-BJP forces, unable to tolerate Udhayanidhi's stance against oppressive principles, have spread a false narrative, alleging that "Udhayanidhi called for the genocide of people with Sanatan thoughts." The Social Media mob nurtured by the BJP has widely circulated this falsehood in northern states."

"However, Minister Udhayanidhi never used the word 'genocide' in either Tamil or English. Still, lies were spread claiming so," he said.

Even after Minister Udhayanidhi clearly denied the claim, Stalin said, "Union Ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and many others, shared the same lie and condemned Udhayanidhi."

The Chief Minister also expressed his dismay over PM Modi demanding a proper response from Udhayanidhi. "It is disheartening to hear from the national media that the Prime Minister mentioned that Udhayanidhi's remarks need a proper response
during a meeting of his council of ministers. The Prime Minister has access to all the resources to verify any claim or report. So, is the Prime Minister speaking unaware of the lies spread about Udhayanidhi, or does he do so knowingly?" he asked.

He also alleged that it appeared like an attempt to divert attention by invoking Sanatan. Stalin said that neither PM nor his Minister replied on Manipur nor Rs 7.50 lakh crore corruption flagged in CAG report.

"However, they convened the cabinet on Sanatan. Can these leaders truly protect the backward castes, Scheduled Castes, Tribal people, and uplift women?" CM asked.
