WATCH: Heavy Waterlogging In Chennai-Bangalore NH After Rainfall, Schools Remain Shut
Due to the inclement, the Vellore district administration has suspended school for classes 1 to 5 on today, said officials.
Following heavy rainfall in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway in Konavattam area witnessed waterlogging on Thursday. Vehicles were seen plying through submerged roads in the morning. Due to the inclement, the Vellore district administration has suspended school for classes 1 to 5 on today, said officials. The administration further advised parents to contact the respective schools for further information.

The southwest monsoon has been active in the state and rain continued to lash in several parts of South and North Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Puducherry reported light rain, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Further, the IMD has forecast light/moderate to moderately widespread, to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over interior Tamil Nadu on Thursday and Friday. Light to moderate rain is predicted to occur at a few places with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Salem, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, Tiruchirappalli and Namakkal districts. The sky is likely to be partly cloudy.
Light to Moderate rain with thunderstorms & lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be 35-36 °C and minimum temperature is likely to be around 27 °C in the next 24 hours.
The weather department on Wednesday said that rainfall had occurred at a few places over Tamil Nadu while dry weather prevailed over Puducherry and Karaikal area. Parts of Vellore along with Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Trichy, Nilgiris, Thanjavur and Dindigul received about 10 mm of rain on Wednesday.
