16,932 Special Buses To Ply Across Tamil Nadu From Today Ahead Of Pongal 2023

Till now, 14,500 commuters have booked tickets for travel from Chennai, according to Tamil Hindu.

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) started to operate special buses to the districts across Tamil Nadu from Thursday ahead of Pongal 2023 celebrations. The TNSTC will mainly run buses from Chennai to ease the travel for those going to their hometowns. 

The TNSTC is expected to operate over 2,000 special buses including 651 buses from Chennai every day from Thursday till Saturday. Overall 16,932 buses including special buses will be operated across the state between January 12 and 14.  

Around 21,000 members have pre-booked for travel across Tamil Nadu. Till now, 14,500 commuters have booked tickets for travel from Chennai.

In Chennai, the long-distance buses will be operated from  Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Bus Terminus at Koyambedu, Madhavaram New Bus Stand, KK Nagar MTC Bus Terminus and Tambaram Mepz Anna Bus Stand. 

The passengers who have booked tickets from Tambaram and Perungalathur, TNSTC and SETC buses from CMBT will take the outer ring road and reach Urapakkam bus station to ease the boarding of the commuters. 

The buses on Madhavaram bus terminus will ply to Redhill, Ponneri, Gummudipoondi and Uthukottai. The buses on KK Nagar MTC bus terminus will ply towards Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram via ECR. The buses on Tambaram MEPZ Anna Bus Stand will ply to Tindivanam, Vikravandi, Panruti, Kumbakonam and Thanjavur.

Tambaram Railway Station Bus Stand will ply buses bound for Tiruvannamalai via Tindivanam and buses to Polur, Chetpattu, Vandavasi, Ginjee. It will also operate buses to Panruti, Neyveli, Vadalur, Chidambaram, Kattumannarkoil, Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram.

The buses from Poonamallee Bus Stand Buses will ply to Vellore, Arani, Arcot, Tirupattur, Kancheepuram.

The officials have also released phone numbers for control room in Koyambedu 9445014450 and 9445014436. 

They have also said that the passengers can lodge complaints against travels getting exorbitant fare in 1800 425 6151 and 044 24749002, as per DT Next.
