PM Modi To Visit Tamil Nadu To Attend BJP's ‘Modi Pongal’ Festivities On January 12
Meanwhile, it may be recalled that Opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took part in Pongal celebration and witnessed a jallikattu event in Avaniyapuram of Madurai district in January 2021.
Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take part in “Modi Pongal” festivities to be organised by Tamil Nadu BJP in Madurai on January 12, 2022, said Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai. The BJP state president also issued an order appointing committee members to make arrangements for the PM’s visit.
In a statement, the BJP state president Annamalai said, "Ahead of Pongal, TN BJP has planned for "Modi Pongal" event from January 12, 2022, in Madurai. All the more, PM Modi is set to take the event so a committee will be headed by BJP state general secretary Karu Nagaraj to organise the event."
In the organizing committee, the BJP state president including the leaders of Madurai district and district heads of Sivaganga, Theni, and Ramanathapuram district to look after the arrangements.

PM Modi is also set to reopen 11 new medical colleges in Tamil Nadu on January 12 through video-conferencing during his visit to Madurai.
Meanwhile, it may be recalled that Opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took part in the Pongal celebration and witnessed a 'Jallikattu' event in Avaniyapuram of Madurai district in January 2021. The Congress leader also shared the stage with DMK youth wing leader Udhayanidhi Stalin.
During his visit, Gandhi addressing the reporters said, the Centre is trying to suppress Tamil Nadu and that is the worst thing the BJP-led government is doing to the country. He said that he flew from Delhi since he believes that Tamil culture, Tamil language, and Tamil history are essential for India. He also said that he has come to give a message to those who think that they can push aside Tamil language and culture.
