PM Modi In TN Invokes MGR, Jayalalithaa As He Hits Out At DMK, I.N.D.I.A. Over Dynastic Politics

Additionally, PM Modi expressed his deep emotional bond with Tamil Nadu exemplified by the installation of 'sengol' in Parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a vibrant rally in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur district on Tuesday, emphasized the pivotal role of the state in shaping India's future. Invoking the legacy of veteran leaders MGR and Jayalalithaa, PM Modi hailed MGR's commitment to governance devoid of dynasty politics.  Additionally, he expressed his deep emotional bond with Tamil Nadu, exemplified by the installation of 'sengol' in Parliament.

At a public meeting in Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur, PM Modi hitting out at the Opposition alliance said, "Those who sit in air-conditioned rooms in Delhi and want to divide the country, should come here and see that Tamil Nadu will decide India's future. Those who make political equations, should note this that Tamil Nadu will be at the forefront of deciding India's future."

PM Modi invoked veteran leaders MGR and Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu. He said, "MGR did not practise dynasty politics. During my visit to Sri Lanka, I got a chance to visit Kandy - the birthplace of MGR. Today, I am at his 'karmabhoomi' - Tamil Nadu. MGR had broken tradition of dynastic (politics) and started the tradition of good governance. He worked for quality education and healthcare, and that's why women respected him a lot."

"However, the politics that is happening because of the DMK government is an insult to MGR. If there was anyone after MGR, it was J Jayalalithaa, who dedicated her entire life for public interest," he said.

Further, PM Modi said that has an emotional connection with Tamil Nadu and recalled the installation of 'sengol' as a move to respect the grand heritage of the country and TN in Parliament.

"Nearly 31 years ago, in 1991, I had started the Ekta Yatra from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari. That yatra had two aims - hoist tricolour at Srinagar's Lal Chowk and abrogate Article 370. These two aims have been achieved. The tricolour is flying with pride at the Lal Chowk and Article 370 has been revoked," he said.
