'Marmadesam' Fame Actor Lokesh Rajendran Dies By Suicide

Four days ago, Lokesh Rajendran had also received a legal notice from his wife for a divorce.

Chennai: Tamil television actor Lokesh Rajendran (34), famous for his role as a child actor in the serial 'Marmadesam', died by suicide on Tuesday. Actor Lokesh is well-known for his role as 'Raasu' in 'Vidathu Karuppu' as part of the anthology 'Marmadesam'. The serial was telecast in 1996. 

Lokesh is survived by his wife and two children. 

According to a report on Indian Express, the father of Lokesh said that his son has acted in 150 serials and 15 films. He has also acted along with actors including Vijayakanth, Prabhu and others. 

The father said that he came to know about a misunderstanding between his son and daughter-in-law a month ago. Four days ago, his son received legal notice for divorce and got depressed. He also sought some money, the father added.

Police said, Lokesh got addicted to alcohol reportedly after a family issue and has been frequently found sleeping at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT).

On Monday, a passersby saw him experience some discomfort at CMBT and called 108 ambulance. Lokesh was taken to Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital but doctors declared him dead.

The police have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and started investigation.

Director Suresh took to social media and said, "Suicide is not the end of anything Machi... even though you are such a great talent, shouldn't you have taken this decision...Your journey that started as a child artist in #மர்மதேசம் should not have ended like this 😢😢😢 You should have succeeded as great director. Miss you machi #LokeshRajendran ...RIP"
