Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivii Has 'Factual Errors', AIADMK Leader Says And Wants Scenes Removed
Former minister D Jayakumar said the scenes that show MGR is not giving importance to Jayalalithaa are not true.
Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Friday demanded that the makers of the movie Thalaivii, a biopic on the former Tamil Nadu chief minister, the late J Jayalalithaa, to delete certain references to the leader calling them are "factually wrong". According to reports, former minister and senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar saw the movie in Chennai and said that some of the references in the movie are not factually right.
Quoting one of the references, Jayakumar said, the movie shows that former Tamil Nadu chief minister MG Ramachandran, who is fondly called MGR, sought a ministerial post from late former CM Karunanidhi but was denied the ticket. However, this is not true since MGR did not go after any such posts, said Jayakumar.

He also said the pictures of MGR undergoing treatment after he was shot at by actor MR Radha played an important role in DMK's victory, and hence the then CM Annadurai wanted to make MGR a mInister but MGR refused to take up the post. However, he was later made deputy chief of Small Savings, a newly created post, Jayakumar said.
Hence, the former minister said, it would be good if the scene mentioned above was deleted.
There were also some other scenes where Jayalalithaa was in touch with former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi without informing MGR, which made him think that she was going against him, or the scenes that show MGR as not giving importance to Jayalalithaa are not true, he said.
