Edappadi Palaniswami Is Fully Qualified To Become PM, Says AIADMK Leader Sellur Raju

Addressing the party workers in Madurai, Sellur K Raju asked why shouldn't EPS become the PM of India.

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has all the qualifications to become the Prime Minister of India, said AIADMK leader Sellur K Raju on Friday. Addressing the party workers in Madurai, Sellur K Raju asked why shouldn't EPS become the PM of India. However, when AIADMK was in an alliance with NDA, the former Minister endorsed PM Modi as the prime ministerial candidate of NDA and urged BJP to support EPS for CM in TN Assembly elections.

On Friday, AIADMK leader and former minister Sellur K Raju said, "Why shouldn't Edappadi Palaniswami become Prime Minister of India?  He has all the qualifications to become the prime minister."

One of the primary reasons for the rift between AIADMK and BJP was over-deciding a CM candidate for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections due in April-May 2026. While AIADMK demanded BJP to endorse the candidature of EPS, BJP's Annamalai refused to comment on the candidate.

In September, Sellur Raju demanded BJP to announce Edappadi K Palaniswami as the CM candidate. He said that Palaniswami wouldn't fall at the feet of anyone, according to Times of India.

Further, he said, Modi, Nadda and Amit Shah were giving due respect to EPS and the party so they would endorse PM Modi as PM. As per the report, he said, "Let Modi be PM but BJP should announce EPS as CM candidate of Tamil Nadu."

However, he said that they were against the activities of the state BJP president.
