Diwali 2023: Tamil Nadu Sets Up 750 Beds Across 95 Hospitals In Event Of Fire Mishaps

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said even if a fire accident takes place rescue services are ready to save the people.

The Minister said that there have been no deaths for the past two years due to fire mishaps during Diwali

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday elaborated on the precautionary steps undertaken ahead of Diwali in Tamil Nadu. The Minister assured that the state Health Department has implemented a range of preventive measures to minimize fire accidents and established rescue services to safeguard individuals in the event of any fire incidents. The Minister said that 750 beds have been prepared especially for the purpose at 95 hospitals across Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the reporters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said, "The Diwali festival is getting closer, and to reduce the fire accidents in Tamil Nadu, precautionary measures have been taken by the Health department. Even if a fire accident takes place, rescue services are ready to save the people."

"750 beds have been prepared especially for this at 95 hospitals across Tamil Nadu. For the past two years, there have been no deaths. This Diwali, there should be no fire accident," he said.

Diwali festival falls on Sunday (November 12) this year. 

Meanwhile, the Chennai city police issued guidelines to the public on bursting crackers. Citing the Supreme Court order, Chennai police commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore said that the residents should adhere to the guidelines issued by the government and take all precautionary measures by cooperating with law enforcement authorities. 

On Diwali, the Chennai people have been permitted to burst crackers from 6 AM to 7 AM and between 7 PM and 8 PM, as reported by Times of India.
