Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Businessman Who Returned From China Via Singapore Tests Positive For Covid

Currently, he is under quarantine and his health is monitored by health authorities. 

Till now, there is no clarity on whether the patients have been infected by BF.7 variant of coronavirus. 

Chennai: A businessman from Salem tested positive for COVID-19 while returning from China via Singapore at Coimbatore on Thursday. 

According to a report on PTI, the 37-year-old man from Ilampillai near Salem tested positive at Coimbatore airport. Currently, he is under quarantine.

The textile businessman was asymptomatic and he is under the surveillance of health authorities. He arrived in Coimbatore through a connecting flight, as per sources. 

Talking to The Hindu, Coimbatore Airport Director S Senthil Valavan on Thursday said, the man who returned from China via Singapore on a connecting flight to Coimbatore on December 27 tested positive for coronavirus. 

His samples were sent for testing on Tuesday and they came back on Wednesday. His details have been submitted to state authorities. 

After his flight, Coimbatore District Deputy Director of Health Services P. Aruna said that he went back to his hometown by car. He had been trading in China for 13 years. 

Till now, there is no clarity on whether the patients have been infected by BF.7 variant of coronavirus. 

He is the fifth person to test positive for coronavirus. 

Till now, two passengers who returned from Dubai and Cambodia in Chennai tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. 

Another woman and her six-year-old daughter who arrived at Madurai airport from China via Colombo in Sri Lanka tested positive for the virus. 

On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Health Department said, "Two passengers who arrived from Dubai tested positive at the Chennai airport today. Both passengers hail from Pudukottai district's Alangudi. Their test samples have been sent to State Public Health Laboratory."
