Chennai Techie Dies After Truck Mows Her Down, Her Office Blames Bad Roads

Chennai: A software engineer who was working in Zoho Corporation died after being mowed down by a truck while negating a road with potholes near Maduravoyal in Chennai on Tuesday. While the police said that the woman was not wearing a helmet, Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu implicated bad roads for causing the tragic loss to her family and Zoho.

According to ANI, Poonamallee police said, “A woman software engineer, S Shobana, died after being mowed down by a truck near Maduravoyal in Chennai on Tuesday. She lost control of her two-wheeler when she hit a pothole on the road. Her brother was present with her and sustained injuries. He is currently admitted to hospital.”

After the demise of the woman, Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu said, “One of our engineers Shobana died tragically when her scooter skidded in the heavily potholed roads near Maduravoyal in Chennai. She was taking her younger brother to school. Our bad roads have caused a tragic loss to her family and Zoho.”

However, Poonamalle police said that none of them were wearing helmets. Poonamalle police said, “None of them were wearing helmets. The truck driver, Mohan arrested on charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence. Civic authorities repaired the damaged portions of the road.”
