Chennai Sign Board Death: Family Of Deceased Man Stares At Uncertain Future
Tamil Nadu government announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh but kin of Shanmugasundaram said that the sum was not enough and demanded a government job for his wife.
Chennai: Shanmugasundaram, an ice-cream distributor in Chennai, had seen his six-month-old son only once from the time of birth. He was waiting for the right time to go back to his hometown with the saved-up money to hold a tonsure ceremony for his son. On Sunday, when Shanmugasundaram last spoke to his wife Radhika he also assured the same. Yet, he did not make it.
On Sunday, a signboard of Tamil Nadu Highways Department fell on him and another person after an MTC bus hit the pillar of the signboard near Alandur Metro Station. Shanmugasundaram died on Monday while the mini-truck driver named Sathyanarayanan sustained minor injuries.
According to a report on Times of India, Shanmugasundaram got married to his wife Radhika five years ago and the couple has two children Danusuya and Sandeep Roshan. He was working as an ice-cream distributor in Saidapet for Rs 15,000 salary. He came to Chennai two years ago for his job and he rarely visited his hometown since he wanted to save up the money for the future of his kids.
Recalling that he soon wanted to hold a tonsure ceremony for his son in their hometown, Radhika said, he sacrificed all his comfort to keep us happy. However, we don't know what the future holds for us.

The Tamil Nadu government announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh and Transport Minister Sivasankar handed over the sum to the kin of the victim while they came to Chennai to take the body.
However, Muthu, a cousin of Shanmugasundaram said that the sum was not enough and demanded a government job for Radhika.

On the job, Muthu told TNM, Shanmugasundaram always wore a helmet and he even had insurance. He was always careful but he died because of the mishap. The Tamil Nadu government gave Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia but how long can the family live with that money
Radhika should be given a government job and she has completed Class 12, he said.
