The rains have also claimed the lives of two persons in the city.

The incessant downpour that started on Monday night continued till the wee hours of Wednesday leaving parts of the city inundated and some of the arterial roads waterlogged especially in the northern parts of the city. The district administration has also closed two subways since they are submerged in the water.

On Tuesday, a woman died in Pulianthope after a concrete slab collapsed on her. Another auto driver died after being electrocuted near Vyasarpadi.
