Chennai: Maths Teacher Arrested For Sharing Pornographic Video On WhatsApp Group Of Class 12 Students

Chennai: The All Women Police arrested a maths teacher of a private school in Chennai for allegedly sharing pornographic content on the WhatsApp group of Class 12 students.

According to a report on The New Indian Express, the maths teacher, identified as R Mathivanan of Ambattur, started teaching at a private school nearly a decade back and was also entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the students for the public exams. 

Against this backdrop, the teacher allegedly shared pornographic content on Friday with both male and female students on the WhatsApp group formed for conducting online classes during the Covid pandemic.

However, when the students saw the message the next morning they were shocked to see the video and immediately lodged a complaint with the school management. The school ordered an internal inquiry and Mathivanan agreed to have shared the video, but said that he shared it under the influence of alcohol. 

Following this, the police arrested Mathivanan under POCSO Act and IT Act. Mathivanan has been remanded in judicial custody, police said. 

Meanwhile, another group of parents staged a protest in Tirupur demanding the school management to take action against a teacher for allegedly abusing a Class 1 student.

A teacher allegedly misbehaved with a 5-year-old girl on the school campus and when the child informed the parents they immediately staged protest along with other irate parents at Chinnapudur in Tirupur. 

The All India Democratic Women's Association also joined in with the protestors after which the police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitating crowd. 

Later, the All Women Police Station North received a complaint from the parents and an inquiry is underway. The police have decided to register a case once the inquiry is over.
