When the cashier requested them to give money, they reportedly started harassing the shop workers and the owner.
Tambaram Police Commissioner Amalraj suspended four women police personnel including an inspector and a head constable for reportedly refusing to pay for the purchased snacks and harassing the eatery worker. The incident came to light and an action was initiated against the cops after a complaint by the eatery's owner.
According to a report in Times of India, four women police personnel went to an eatery in Padappai last week and had juices and snacks. After eating they refused to pay for food by stating that they were on duty. They reportedly said that they should not be charged for having food since they were serving society. However, when the cashier requested them again, they reportedly started harassing the shop workers and the owner.
Following this, the shop owner gave a complaint to Manimangalam police and submitted CCTV footage of the incident from the shop. The CCTV footage showed a policewoman threatening the cashier and asking him to come to the station. She also reportedly told him to meet the inspector. The cashier then reportedly said that the shop can give tea for free but they should pay for the snacks, water bottles and chocolates.
Later, the complaint was escalated to Commissioner Amalraj. The Commissioner ordered a detailed departmental inquiry.

The four police personnel were identified as Inspector Vijayalakshmi, head constable Jayamala and Constables Kausalya and Aishwarya. Further investigations are on.
