Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Keeps 23 Portfolios Including Home, Gives PWD To Satpal Maharaj

New Delhi: After Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took the oath for a second consecutive term despite losing the election from the Khatima seat, the Uttarakhand assembly is taking shape.

On Wednesday, the government alloted cabinet portfolios to the newly sworn in ministers of the state. Chief Minister Dhami got as many as 23 portfolios including home and mining, news agency ANI reported.

Dhami will oversee the home ministry along with the Excise, Mining, and Civil Aviation ministries among others.

Other ministers that got different portfolios are Premchand Aggarwal who will handle Finance and Satpal Maharaj would handle the Public Works Department (PWD).

The Education Ministry has been handed to Dhan Singh Rawat and Agriculture to Ganesh Joshi.

Apart from Dhami’s 23 portfolios, Cabinet Ministers Subodh Uniyal and Rekha Arya were allotted four departments each, whereas six each went to Chandan Ramdas, Dhan Singh Rawat, Saurabh Bahuguna, and Premchand Agarwal.

On Tuesday, Dhami said that the state government is committed to making Uttarakhand the number one state by 2025. 

According to ANI, an official statement by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that for the financial year 2022-23, there will be a need for withdrawal of funds from the Consolidated Fund of the state, and according to the provisions in Article 206 of the Constitution, a four-month vote on the account has been presented in the House.

Meanwhile, Dhami reaffirmed that his government is committed to fulfilling the promises made by the BJP during the recently held assembly election.
