UP CM Hands Over 76 Flats To The Poor, Built On Land Confiscated From Atiq Ahmed In Prayagraj — WATCH

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected and handed over keys to 76 flats built for the poor on land confiscated from slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and handed over keys to 76 flats, built on land confiscated from slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, to the poor in Prayagraj on Friday. CM Adityanath highlighted that housing units are being built on the land freed from the mafia in a state where criminals used to encroach upon the land of the poor, businessmen, and the government before 2017. He also inspected the flats ahead of the launch.

In October 2021, Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) prepared a blueprint for the construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on this plot of land freed from Atiq Ahmed amid a crackdown against him and his gang.

He also inaugurated 226 development projects in the city on the occasion.

Addressing a gathering, CM Adityanath said a unique initiative has been taken forward from Prayagraj today.

"Keys to flats, built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, on the land confiscated from the mafia are being handed over to 76 families," he said, congratulating the people who have received flats.

"This is the same state where prior to 2017, the mafia used to encroach upon the land of the poor, businessmen, and the government. But now housing units are being built on the land freed from the mafia. I tell all the officials today, to build such housing units on land freed from the mafia in their respective areas. This will instill confidence in people," he remarked, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Before the inauguration, the Chief Minister was seen interacting with children and he also inspected the flats.

Speaking to ANI, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that the BJP government is building homes for the poor on government land, as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve. "Our Government will vacate all such illegal encroachments, build houses for the poor, and hand over to them," he added.

On December 26, 2021, CM Adityanath laid the foundation stone for the housing project on this 1,731-squaremeter site in the Lukerganj area.
