UP Nikay Chunav — Prayagraj Was Made Victim Of Crimes, But...: CM Yogi In 1st Visit After Atiq-Ashraf Murder

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj on Tuesday and said that the town was earlier a victim of crimes.

UP Nagar Nikay Chunav 2023: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday addressed a gathering in Prayagraj and spoke on the development as well as the declining crime rate in the town. The Chief Minister said that Prayagraj was made the victim of various crimes but nature always keeps everyone's account. Notably, this is CM Yogi's first visit to Sangam City after the double murder of gangster brothers Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that Prayagraj is the land of justice and one pays for what one does. Praising PM Narendra Modi's work he said, "India's prestige has increased under the leadership of Prime Minister."

He added that in a democracy, be it a king or a poor person, everyone has an equal right to vote. "India is respected, the attitude towards India has changed in the world," he added.

He said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) means everyone's support, development and faith. Adityanath further said that around 4 crore poor people are getting one house each under the BJP government and its ongoing development work.

Praising the party's mayoral candidate from the town, Ganesh Kesarwani, the CM said that Kesarwani dedicated his life to the party and BJP made its worker the candidate for the post of mayor. "Today, it is working as the stepping stone of more members in the party," the CM said.

On April 15, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction while police personnel was escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.

Earlier, while addressing an election meeting in Sitapur, Adityanath termed the upcoming urban body elections “Deva-Asura sangram”, a battle between the gods and their enemies, and said it is necessary to teach the corrupt and the mafia a lesson.

At another meeting, Adityanath said that before 2017, when the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, there was hooliganism in the state and a “goonda tax” used to be collected from traders. But now nobody dares to demand it, he said.

At an election rally in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said caste politics had ruined Uttar Pradesh.

“Caste politics was created by the mafia and led to an identity crisis among the youth. However, the people of the state rejected those indulging in caste politics. Now the mafia are begging for their lives by hanging a placard around their neck,” the chief minister said.
