UP 'Corona Curfew' Extended Till May 17 To Stop The Spread Of Virus, Complete Guidelines

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government extended the ongoing lockdown till May 17 to break the chain of Covid spread on Monday

State Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal said it would be like a partial corona curfew. During this time all necessary services will continue as before.

In view of the fast spreading infections in the villages after the panchayat elections and the festival of Eid on May 14, the Yogi Adityanath government has extended the lockdown for a week, the official said.

UP Lockdown: What’s Open and What Will Remain Shut

  • Essential and Medical emergency services allowed.
  • All shops and establishments to remain closed.
  • Private and govt offices to stay shut.
  • Wedding (with a cap of 100 people, 50 people in closed areas) and funeral (with a cap of 20 people) services.
  • Restaurants, bars, sports complexes, gyms to remain closed.
  • Educational institutes, such as schools and colleges, will remain closed.


In a review meeting with the Chief Minister, Team-9 decided to extend the lockdown till May 17 at 7 a.m. to break the chain of infections.  Strict action will be taken against those who roam unnecessarily. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the objective of the corona curfew will only be successful if the protocols are strictly implemented.

Navneet Sehgal said, people themselves are not coming out of their homes. He said industrial and e-commerce activities will continue as before. Ration distribution and vaccination will also carry on. However, in containment zones, only door-to-door delivery will be allowed.

The Uttar Pradesh government decided to extend lockdown just a day after 298 people died from coronavirus and 26,847 fresh cases surfaced, pushing the total number of coronavirus cases in state to 14,80,315. A total of 15,170 people have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh due to coronavirus.
