India-Pakistan Tensions: Akhilesh Yadav Urges Politicians Not To Use Armed Forces For 'Self-Display'

Akhilesh has also urged citizens to exercise restraint and responsible behavior in the face of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Lucknow, May 11 (PTI) Amid the recently concluded military confrontation with Pakistan and prevailing "uneasy" calm at the LoC, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday appealed to political leaders to refrain from using defense-related backdrops as photo opportunities, urging them instead to show solidarity with the armed forces.

Akhilesh has also urged citizens to exercise restraint and responsible behavior in the face of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, cautioning them against falling for false information or unverified news that circulates online.

"In the current highly sensitive environment, 'defense security' has become an even more serious issue. Politicians are requested to please not make it a photo background or selfie point. This is a time to stand with the armed forces, not alone for self-display," Yadav said in a post in Hindi on X.

While Yadav did not name anyone directly, his comment is seen as targeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who posed alongside a BrahMos missile or its model in Lucknow at an event.
