Hathras Stampede: UP CM Yogi Adityanath Reaches Meets Injured, Takes Stock Of Situation: Watch

UP CM Yogi Adityanath visited Hathras government hospital to meet injured in the stampede incident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Hathras on Wednesday, a day after 121 people were killed in an ill-fated religious gathering following a stampede. The Chief Minister met with officials at the Hathras police lines and took stock of the situation. The victims were part of the crowd of thousands that had gathered near Phulrai village in the Sikandrarau area for the 'satsang' by religious preacher Bhole Baba.

He also visited Hathras government hospital where those injured were admitted and met them. The number of people injured in the stampede stood at 28 on Tuesday.

As per a government official, only four of the 121 bodies remained to be identified. "Now one body each in Hathras and Aligarh and two in Etah remain to be identified. All bodies in Agra have been identified," the official told PTI in Hathras.

On Wednesday, the organisers of the congregation were booked by the Uttar Pradesh police, accusing them of hiding evidence and flouting conditions with 2.5 lakh people gathering for the event where only 80,000 people were permitted to attend.

A team consisting of ADG Agra and Aligarh Divisional Commissioner has been constituted to inquire into the cause of incident, said the government, adding that the report is likely to be submitted on Wednesday, reported PTI.

"Our government will get to the bottom of this incident and give appropriate punishment to the conspirators and those responsible," said CM Adityanath while speaking to reporters on Tuesday. "The state government is investigating this entire incident. We will see whether it is an accident or a conspiracy," he added.
