Gyanvapi Mosque Case: Videography Survey Continues For Second Day Amid Tight Security

According to a report by news agency PTI, District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that 50 percent of the survey was completed on Saturday.

New Delhi: The Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex survey commenced for the second day on Sunday amid tight security, officials told news agency ANI. The court-appointed special assistant commissioner Advocate Vishal Singh said, “The survey will be conducted between 8 am-12 noon.”

In order to maintain law and order in the area, the police cordoned off the road near the complex. In addition, all shops within the 500-metre radius of the complex were shut on the first day of the survey on Saturday.

“Darshan has been arranged for all. All the routes have been opened so that the visitors do not face any problems and police personnel have been accordingly deployed. Right now entry is being given to a member of the commission from one gate and devotees are having darshan from the rest," said Varanasi DCP RS Gautam on Gyanvapi Masjid.

As far as the survey is concerned, it is being conducted in accordance with Varanasi civil court’s order to complete the survey.

After being stalled last week due to objections by the Mosque committee, the survey began again on Saturday.

According to a report by news agency PTI, District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that 50 percent of the survey was completed on Saturday.

“Survey of more than 50 percent of the place has been done. The survey work is confidential and is done under the monitoring of the court. So, information regarding the places where the survey was done and what was found cannot be shared now," Shara was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex issue began with a petition by a group of women who filed a plea seeking permission to pray every day in front of the Shringar Gauri temple which is located on the outer wall of the Mosque.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had on Friday last refused to grant an interim order of status quo on the survey. The top court, however, agreed to consider listing the plea of a Muslim party against the survey.
