Gaurav Bhatia Trends On Social Media After 'Clash' With Lawyers On Strike In UP

The incident occurred when Bhatia arrived at the local court in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district for work.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson and senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia's name was among the top trends on Twitter after reports of his involvement in a clash started doing the rounds. According to sources, an altercation took place between Gaurav Bhatia and some lawyers who were protesting on the premises of a local court in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district in UP. Bhatia was at the local court for some work.

Upon his arrival, the sources said, he was informed by the president of the local bar and other advocates that the lawyers were on strike and hence, no court-related work would be done. This led to an altercation between the parties. Following the altercation, the lawyers returned to Delhi. The situation was brought under control.

Gaurav Bhatia shared a statement of the Supreme Court Bar Association and captioned, "We will sacrifice our lives for the Advocate fraternity. But if you put your hand on the band, we won't tolerate it."

The Supreme Court Bar Association took cognizance of the "grevious misconduct" by a lawyer present inside the Court room and condemned "such unprofessional and illegal act undertaken by the concerned advocate."

"The Supreme Court Bar Association urges the Executive Committee of Janpad Dewani and Faujdari Bar Association Gautam Budh Nagar to identify the said lawyer, put him to notice and take strict against (action) the concerned lawyer," the statement said.

The Gautam Budh Nagar Bar Association, however, denied the rumours of a clash between the lawyers and Gaurav Bhatia.
