Telangana: 26-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Raped In Moving Bus, Driver Arrested

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped on a moving private bus on the outskirts of Hyderabad in Telangana, police reported on Tuesday. The assault reportedly occurred on Monday night, involving one of the two drivers of a private sleeper bus operated by Hari Krishna Travels. The bus had departed from Nirmal town and was en route to Prakasam in Andhra Pradesh.
According to authorities, the Osmania University police intercepted the bus on the outskirts of Hyderabad shortly after midnight following a distress call from the victim to the emergency helpline, Dial 100. The alleged perpetrator, identified as driver Krishna, managed to flee the scene when the bus slowed down near the Mettuguda area, according to a report on IANS.
The second driver, who was operating the bus at the time, has been detained by the police for further questioning. The police have registered a case and sent the victim for a medical examination. Circle Inspector N. Rajender stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver.
The victim recounted to the police that Krishna allegedly gagged her with a blanket before raping her, despite the presence of other passengers on the bus.
Woman Gang Raped By Friends In Hyderabad
A young woman was allegedly gang-raped by her friends during a celebratory party in Vanasthalipuram, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
According to the Rachakonda police, the friends had organized the party at a bar and restaurant to celebrate her new job in a software company, as per the report. At that time, her childhood friend, Gowtham Reddy, and another mutual friend allegedly took her to a room when she was in an inebriated state and raped her. The police have registered a case and have launched an investigation into the incident.
