Rajasthan Election 2023: Sachin Pilot's Aide & Ex-Union Minister Subhash Maharia Quits Congress

Sachin Pilot's aide Subhash Maharia called it quits with Congress on Friday in a letter addressed to the party president Mallikarjun Kharge. He cited the ignorance towards fulfilling manifesto promises as the reason for quitting.

Sachin Pilot's close aide and former Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Congress leader Subhash Maharia on Friday submitted his resignation to the National chief of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge in a letter. In the letter, Maharia wrote that since joining the Congress party, a large number of party workers Worked hard with the workers at the grassroots level and made people believe in the manifesto's promises however, after facing defeat in 2019, not a single review meeting was held.

This development comes just days after Sachin Pilot culminated his Jan Sangharsh Yatra which was allegedly only targetted at corruption and not against any individual.

The letter further stated that Maharia visited villages and remote corners with party workers to talk to the farmers, and the youth and make them believe that if Congress comes to power then it will fulfill all the promises 'to the T'. However, it appears that the party has forgotten all its promises. During the Rajasthan Assembly elections, Congress had promised loan waivers to the farmers of the state and the removal of unemployment among the youth. The people of the state trusted the promises of the party leaders and voted. Now the farmer and the youth of the state are feeling cheated by doing this.

The former Union Minister asserted that Congress workers in Sikar were facing humiliation and said, "In such a situation, it is not possible for me to remain in the party any longer."

Previously a member of the BJP, Subhash Maharia joined the Congress in 2016. He contested for the Sikar Lok Sabha seat in 2019 on a ticket from the Congress but was defeated by Swami Sumedhanand Saraswati. Now it is being alleged that he might go back to the BJP.
