Cow Vigilante Monu Manesar Gets Bail In Nuh Violence Case

Despite his bail, Bajrang Dal activist Monu Manesar remains to be in judicial custody in connection with an ongoing case in Gurugram's Pataudi court.

A Haryana court granted bail to Monu Manesar, a cow vigilante, in connection with the Nuh violence case. Manesar's counsel Kulbhushan Bhardwaj said that his client has got bail and has furnished a Rs 1 lakh surety bond. He said that the bail was granted by the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class of Nuh, Amit Kumar Verma. Despite the bail, Manesar remains to be in judicial custody in connection with another case in Gurugram's Pataudi, reported news agency PTI. He was arrested in the Nuh violence case on September 12.

The FIR against Manesar was registered by the Nuh Police in connection to a message that he allegedly posted on social media amid plans of VHP to take out another procession on August 28. Police officials earlier stated that the post attempted to create disharmony between groups on the basis of religion.

A Pataudi court in Gurugram had sent the cow vigilante and Bajrang Dal activist Manesar to 14-day judicial custody in an attempt to murder case. Earlier a district court in Rajasthan had rejected his bail plea in connection with a double murder case. He was booked for the murder of two Muslim men, Nasir and Junaid. He was then arrested in connection with the abduction and killing of them. They were allegedly abducted by some vigilantes who accused them of cow smuggling, reported PTI.

He was brought back to Gurugram from Rajasthan a few days back and was produced before a court in Pataudi. He was sent to judicial custody.

A religious procession led by the VHP on July 31 was attacked by a mob in the Nuh district of Haryana. The violence that occurred on that day along with the subsequent communal violence that followed led to the death of six people. A cleric was also killed in an attack on a mosque in the neighbouring Gurugram, PTI reported.
