Maharashtra: 200 Stranded Tourists Rescued From Anjaneri Fort Amid Heavy Rains. 'Red Alert' In Ratnagiri, Raigad
Around 200 tourists were rescued after being stranded at Anjaneri Fort in Nashik due to heavy rains. The rescue operation, led by the forest department, took six hours.
Around 200 tourists were stranded at Anjaneri Fort due to heavy rains in the Nashik district of Maharashtra on Sunday. All those tourists were rescued after a six-hour rescue operation.
In a video released by the news agency ANI, people can be seen descending from the fort in a line, holding onto one another. Additionally, heavy rainwater is flowing across the road from which they are making their way down.

Responding to the situation, RFO Nashik West Division, Vrushali Ghade, stated that all those people facing difficulty in getting down the stairs were rescued by the team of the forest department. "Yesterday was a Sunday, so the crowd on the Anjaneri fort was more than usual. Yesterday, some people went up the hill. Water flowed through the stairs due to sudden heavy rain. As a result, the people faced difficulty in getting down through the stairs and the forest department was called... All the people were rescued by the team of the forest department. There were at least 200-300 stranded people," she said.

Monsoon 2024: IMD Issues 'Red Alert' For Ratnagiri, Raigad
For today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Ratnagiri district. Orange alert for Raigad, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Amravati, Wardha, and Yavatmal. A Yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Dhule, districts.

IMD has also predicted heavy rain in several parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, on Tuesday. It has issued a Red alert for Raigad and an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satar, and Kolhapur.
